Ron Resigns From KBACK Radio

It was an emotional day at the KBACK studio. Ron made the best show he possibly could for his last day. He reminisced on some memories he enjoyed the most as a DJ. From his former digs at KBAD 94.5 FM to online radio streaming KBACK, he shared what he enjoyed the most as a DJ, the interaction with the listeners. Often times, against his better judgment, he takes live phones calls and put the caller on the spot. Engaging with the listeners was part of Ron’s show format. Some of the listeners loved his show so much that they became regulars or P1’s (Priority One listeners). Not only he takes their calls, he also makes it a priority to fulfill their song requests through various channels such as Facebook, calling the studio or texting his virtual phone.

As a DJ, Ron was able to have more freedom to do or play whatever he wanted with KBACK than he did at KBAD. Online radio has no rules compared to KBAD where he and everyone else had to adhere to the FCC regulations and a song list. Ron had an awesome show with KBACK. His format consisted of “Keel’s Killer Scream of the Week”, Rock star interviews, live interaction with the listeners, and playing vinyl (Yes vinyl records on the radio!). His show is one of the best shows with his up-beat personality compared to the corporate radio shows you’d hear on the FM airwaves.

With his band and his solo shows kicking into high gear, his schedule is starting to pile up. 2019 is looking like a busy year for Ron. Music For Vets in January, His “Fight Like a Band” album release party in February, Frontiers Rock Festival in Milano, Italy in April, and more tour dates to be expected to be added in promotion of the new album. As touring as KEEL, RKB and His Solo shows, there’s just not enough room in his calendar to make a consistent appearance on his radio show.
