Last night was an amazing show! It was a three-hour concert with three separate sets. The first set was all original songs from their brand-new debut album “Fight Like a Band” which won’t be released until March 1st. They played their whole album from top to bottom and their performance did not disappoint! They did however have some restrictions on what they can use as part of their stage performances. Since the venue took place at a casino, there was concerns of too much smoke and confetti blinding the casino’s cameras. There was also a noise restriction which the band would have definitely over exceeded. From good sources I’ve gotten, the band and the casino compromised and met in the middle. But overall, the whole performance was top-notch.
The second set they performed was an all southern rock Anthem. South X(by) South Dakota is a new set which they’ve also debuted last night as part of their performance. It’s to pay tribute to all southern rock bands like Molly Hatchet, The Marshall Tucker Band, The Allman Brothers Band, Eagles – just name a few. This showcases their two six songs volume sets to bring into a live performance. They originally use these song as warm ups during their recording sessions. What was a fun way to loosen up in the studio is now a great addition to add to their collection and live performances.
The last set, which ended the night, was their original set they’ve done since they’ve started their journey as the Ron Keel Band. With songs like Train Train, Rockin’ Into the Night, Bad Moon Rising, Flirtin’ with Disaster – to name a few. The Johnny Cash medley, where Jeff “The Rev” Koller gets out on stage and sings his favorite Johnny Cash songs. The American medley, where songs like Born in the USA, American Girl is sandwiched between American Pie. This medley starts off of with American Pie and goes into American Girl then into Born in the USA and ends with American Pie. A clever way of doing a medley. And Dave “DC” Cothern rips it up on his guitar with his fantastic guitar solo.
It was a fun night for the band and the fans that came out. Some of the fans even flew out from other states just to participate in this event. Overall, it was an amazing turnout and an amazing night!
